Warehouse Operative

We are currently looking for a Warehouse Operative to join our team. This role is based at our head office in Whitley.
What will you be doing in this role?
As a Warehouse Operative at Tunstall, you will receive, store and issue goods in an accurate and timely manner in order to ensure production and our all-important customer’s requirements are met.

The Ideal candidate:
Full training will be provided, however, to be successful in this role, you will be friendly and approachable, with a high standard of care, a responsible manner and good communication skills. You will be reliable and have good attention to detail, able to work well with others, as well as independently. You will also have good IT skills including the use of software such as Microsoft word and Excel.
Some of your key responsibilities would be:
To receipt goods, store, and issue goods in an accurate and timely manner to ensure production and our all-important customer’s requirements are met,
- Ensure correct item & quantity are receipted and issued to keep stock accuracy correct,
- To work to first in first out (FIFO) at all times, unless directed otherwise by the Quality team,
- Ensure stock transactions are updated in an accurate & timely manner,
- Minimise waste and participate in waste reduction projects as required,
- Maintain good manufacturing practices relating to the quality and the environment,
- Maintain housekeeping standards as required through the 5S (sort, set in order, shine, standardise, sustain) processes,
- To carry out any other such duties which reasonably correspond to the nature of the role,
- To undertake all duties in such a manner as to comply with Health & Safety and security procedures and guidelines.
Key skills and experience:
Essential:
- Stores and warehouse experience,
- Knowledge of warehousing standard operation procedures,
- Have a good standard or English and Maths,
- Methodical approach,
- Proven administration skills,
- Capable of working effectively on own, or as a team member,
- Good organisational skills,
- Ability to work within agreed processes and systems, but also look to make suggest and make improvements,
- Good basic IT skills, word excel.
Desirable:
- Forklift truck (Reach / counter balance) licence,
- Knowledge of ERP system, eg IFS, Baan, SAP.
- Manual handling training,
- Knowledge of quality, environmental and health and safety responsibilities,
