Head of Commercial Finance

We are recruiting a Head of Commercial Finance to join our team based in West Yorkshire (Whitley, DN14 0HR). We offer a hybrid working pattern with a mix of office and remote working.
What will you be doing in this role?
The Head of Commercial Finance plays a critical role in delivering the organisations financial and strategic objectives. This role is pivotal in driving the financial success of the organization by providing day to day financial leadership, driving performance, highlighting risks & opportunities. The Head of Commercial Finance will contribute to and facilitate the delivery of UK and Ireland business objectives, revenue, EBIT & EBITDA.
The Ideal candidate:
We’re looking for someone with experience of leading the Commercial Finance teams plus delivering/driving outstanding performance through coaching and development. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience of supporting leadership teams along with providing appropriate, timely, accurate financial information, robust commercial analysis and robust financial & commercial models.

Key skills and experience:
- Qualified accountant or QBE, with several years of progressive experience in Commercial Finance, with a focus on leadership, continuous improvement and change management.
- Results driven, with demonstrable experience of delivering process improvement and initiating and delivering business change.
- Significant experience of leading and developing high performing teams.
- Strong leadership knowledge and experience, developing people through delegation, coaching and empowerment.
- Proven experience of initiating and driving business change and continuous improvement
- Strong analytical capability and commercial awareness.
- Able to conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision making and identify key business drivers.
- Highly proficient in the use of Excel, experience in use of database and financial modelling software.
- Customer focused, delivering a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience of effectively coordinating multiple activities and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Desirable skills and experience
- Previous experience in a Senior Finance role, with the ability to convey Financial information to non-Finance colleagues.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and influence key stakeholders, both peers and senior leaders.
- Strong commercial acumen, able to balance commercial decision making with financial risk.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Lead and develop the Commercial Finance and Ireland Finance team to deliver first class business partnering across all functions to achieve the 3-year plan.
- Ensure the structure of the team supports the needs of the business, including clarity of roles and responsibilities and the right balance of technical skills and commercial acumen.
- Act as trusted Finance Business Partner to the Executive Leadership Team, supporting decision-making and acting as a sounding board.
- Identify & lead in the delivery of economic growth available from existing and new market opportunities.
- Translate financial and non-financial metrics into actionable operating plans to support key stakeholders in driving the business forward.
- Collaborate with UK&I Leadership to develop existing propositions and new commercial pricing models, driving revenue growth and delivering returns in line with the business plan.
- Work with UKI Leadership Team to identify and assess new market opportunities, ensuring that they will deliver sufficient return relative to their commercial risk.
- Drive the strategic plan and budgeting processes, working with UKI Leadership Team to develop and deliver the 3-year business plan and annual budget targets.
- Support on-going business transformation, including the change in business culture to be forward thinking and proactive.
- Ensure the business is always ‘consciously in control’ of what it is doing and focuses on margin and cost management.
- Ensure the UKI Commercial Finance team deliver timely and accurate monthly accounts and other management reporting information as required.
- Ensure appropriate levels of financial governance, and the accuracy and integrity of financial processes and reporting.
- Identify efficiency improvement initiatives that lead to a sustained benefit.
- Improve the level of commercial understanding and analysis throughout the business.
- Ensure UKI assets are appropriately safeguarded.
- Support in the development of commercial bonus schemes and targets in collaboration with functional leads.
- Work closely with UKI Stock & Procurement Manager, Head of Field Operation, UK Sales Director and Ireland MD to manage UKI stock holding and deliver robust demand plans.
