Assistant Financial Accountant - 6-month Fixed Term Contract

We are recruiting an Assistant Financial Accountant to join our UK&I Finance Team based out of our Whitley (DN14 0HR) location. Flexible hybrid working is available.
What will you be doing in this role?
As an Assistant Financial Accountant, you will be supporting the accounting, financial reporting and providing finance support for all entities within Financial Shared Services (FSS). You will also be supporting the statutory reporting process for all UK legal entities. You will ensure that all processes and procedures are performed in line with agreed FSS process/ standard operating procedures (SOP).
The Ideal candidate:
We are looking for someone with experience of supporting accounts teams through month end reporting (for UK-based entities). Any experience of supporting wider finance teams with other ad hoc duties throughout the month such as reporting on expenses and credit card spend, collecting data for reporting to ONS, and co-ordination of payment of inter company balances would be beneficial.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
· Ensure compliance and integrity of procedures, controls, and balance sheet reconciliations
· Work across the Financial Shared Service team to ensure documentation of processes and procedures to secure ongoing control and compliance
· Support the Financial Accounts team with bank reconciliations, posting journals, and producing reports
· Respond to queries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner and follow these through to resolution
· Participate in the month-end close process and assist with the preparation of financial statements
· Review monthly financial results with stakeholders, ensuring all issues are documented and appropriate actions agreed
· Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Financial Shared Services department
Required skills and experience
· Studying towards accounting qualification (AAT) or relevant finance degree or have equivalent part qualified experience
· Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formula, data models, macros)
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
